Users review: High school misfit Carrie (Sissy Spacek) released its telekinetic fury to his executioners. It was a great success in 1976, and I'm scared silly. No scares me now (except for the final sequence), but I still think it's a good solid horror very well handled by Brian De Palma. It moves very fast, has some beautiful images (all shot with muted colors soft focus) and has almost uniformly strong performances. The only bad for John Travolta way out of its depth ringing a bell. Amy Irving (as a student who becomes Carrie's friend), William Katt (with an afro 70), Nancy Allen (playing a real bitch), Betty Buckley (as young and full of energy) and PJ Soles (study ask, but bearable) are all perfect. But Spacek Piper Laurie super coordinated, which is a very scary and wonderful as his deranged religious mother. Also, the movie (by the standards of today) very restricted in terms of blood and gore. And the final sequence jump (also notice the car at the bottom of this - you are moving backwards!) Only complaint - De Palma really hate some of the high school kids - you feel like hes some personal problems is solved here. And do we really need a shower sequence slow at first camera? Other than that - it's a great movie. See letter boxed.
